Despite of her young age, Maria has been working with communication of development issues for almost ten years. With former internships in Honduras and Tanzania, longer stays in Cuba and Spain, as well as countless travels through African countries such as Southern Sudan, Zambia, Uganda and Malawi, Maria is more global than Danish. Maria has now found peace for a time, as an intern with the Nordic Desk at UNRIC. Maria has a bachelor in Film and Media Science and is currently studying a master in African Studies.

Johanna Lillqvist - Editor Theme section - May 2013 to November 2013

 

Johanna is currently an intern for the Nordic desk at the United Nations Regional Information Centre for Western Europe (UNRIC). She is finishing up her masters degree in Political Science in Finland but has spent the better part of the past few years travelling, working and living abroad in Australia, England, South America, Asia and most recently France. Johanna loves adventures, she is always up for new challenges and experiences and hopes there will be a lot more of those to come in the future as well!

Laura was an intern at the UK and Ireland desk in the United Nations Regional Information Centre for Western Europe (UNRIC). She was   born in Finland but has spent most of her adult life elsewhere: Scotland, England, Canada and now Belgium. She completed her undergraduate degree in Politics and International relations in Scotland, and her Master’s in Conflict Studies in London. Laura loves travelling and aims to visit 50 countries by the time she is 30 (which is luckily still some time away).

Emma was interning at the Nordic Desk at the United Nations Regional Information Centre for Western Europe (UNRIC). She was born and raised in Norway but completed most of her studies abroad, obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in International Studies in Canada and a Master’s degree in Conflict, Governance and International Development in the UK. Her biggest passions are photography and travelling, and she has lived/studied/travelled in many different regions including North America, Central America, West Africa and the Middle East. Aiming for a career in humanitarian affairs, she also hopes to see a lot more of the world in the future!

Sigurd Tvete was the Director's Intern at the United Nations Regional Information Centre for Western Europe    (UNRIC). He is originally from Norway but is currently dividing his time between Brussels (73.493%) and London (16.617%). He has also lived in Melbourne and Paris. Sigurd holds a Master degree in global migration and political geography, and a Master in business and marketing. He likes to play with kangaroos, and hopes to one day see an okapi. Sigurd would preferably want to see a kangaroo play with an okapi, but alas, that is a rather unlikely scenario.

 

 

 

Daniel Brumund – Editor-in-chief & coordinator editorial team - November 2012 - April 2013 IV DanielBrumund

Daniel has studied media, politics and film in Germany and New Zealand. He is currently a trainee at the European Commission in the Communications Unit of DG Enlargement. Before moving to Brussels, he worked for NGOs in the Palestinian Territories and in Serbia. He is fascinated by the potential of new media to promote positive change – and to steal his time. Daniel is an avid photographer which is basically a good excuse to travel to all four corners of the world.

Anne is a freelance journalist. She is from Oslo, studies law in Copenhagen and currently interns with UNRIC in Brussels. In other words she is fond meeting new people and moving around, be it walking, couch surfing, running, reading, skiing or by train. For related reasons her favorite fields of the law studies are international law, security policy and human rights.

 

 

 

 

Emilia Honkasaari– Editor Theme Section - November 2012 - January 2013emilia

Emilia has a Master’s degree in Social Sciences from the University of Helsinki. After graduating from university she has been working and living in St Petersburg and Oslo. Currently she works as an intern at UNRIC (United Nations Regional Information Centre) and is a part of the Internal Voices team, where she is editor for the theme section. Emilia is passionate about politics, popular culture and everything that is related to Russia.

 

 

Mmatthijsatthijs Plijnaar – Editor-in-chief & coordinator editorial team - November 2012 - Janaury 2013

After graduating in 2003 from Communication, Matthijs travelled around Australia and New Zealand. After this life changing trip he decided to go back to University to study European Studies, which he successfully completed in 2012. With his second bachelor degree in the pocket, he moved to Brussels to start a internship at UK & Ireland desk of the United Nations Regional Information Centre. During his time at UNRIC he helped to re-establish Internal Voices.

Hannah Scheldt Nielsen – Editor International Issues - November 2012 - January 2013

Hannah is a Master student at Copenhagen Business School in Denmark where she studies intercultural communication and European Studies. She has a huge passion for human rights which have been one of her major fields of study. Currently she works as an intern at UNRIC (United Nations Regional Information Centre) and is a part of the Internal Voices team. Hannah’s Motto: Smile to the world and the world will smile back!
