"On the Future of Europe"
Venue: European Parliament, Room ASP A5G1
Time: 18:00 - 19:00
Andrew Duff is a Liberal Democrat Member of the European Parliament for East of England. He is Spokesman for the Committee on Constitutional Affairs for the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE); Member of the EU-Turkey Joint Parliamentary Committee; President of the Union of European Federalists; Chairman of the Spinelli Group of the European Parliament; and a Founding member of the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR).
In this recent publication On Governing Europe Andrew Duff, who is one of the most outspoken advocates of a federal Europe, outlined what has gone wrong with the European Union in recent year . He describes the measures the EU has taken since the beginning of the crisis in 2008 and the shortcomings of economic governance. Ultimately he sets out an ambitious agenda for reform that would lead to a much stronger and more integrated European Union. Plenty of food for discussion.
For the first 20 minutes of this hour-long debate, editor-in-chief Andreas Gahleitner will pose the questions of the editorial team before opening the floor for 40 minutes of Questions and Answers.
